Terms of service

Who we are
Competese is provided by Mellow. Contact: hello@competese.com. These terms are between us and the business that uses Competese.
What Competese does
Competese reads publicly available pages of your website and of the competitors you choose, records the public prices, products and promotions it finds, and tells you about changes that may affect you. It suggests competitors and product matches using AI; you decide which to keep.
What it does not promise
Coverage is a sample of each site, not a complete catalogue. Some sites block automated checks or publish no prices. Public prices may differ from negotiated or trade terms. Delivery charges are shown only where a site publishes them. Comparisons use VAT-inclusive prices and pack sizes only where they are stated, or where you have confirmed a match. AI suggestions and summaries can be wrong. Decisions you make on pricing remain your responsibility.
How we collect
Competese identifies itself as CompeteseBot, follows each site's robots.txt rules, does not log in, does not bypass CAPTCHAs or paywalls and limits how often it visits each site. See how our crawler works.
Free trial
The free trial lasts 7 days, includes everything and needs no card. It is one trial per person and one per organisation (businesses using the same work email domain) within 90 days. We may refuse or end trials that look like misuse, such as many sign-ups from one place.
Your plan and billing
- Your price is built from the analysis you choose and shown before you subscribe. Prices exclude VAT. Plans renew monthly, or yearly at 10 months' price for twelve.
- A bigger plan, or moving from monthly to yearly, is charged straight away for the rest of the current billing period (pro rata), and starts once that payment goes through.
- A smaller plan, or moving from yearly to monthly, starts at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep the bigger plan until then, and there is no refund or credit for the rest of that period.
- You can cancel at any time; the plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for and then stops. We don't refund part periods.
- We never add automatic overage charges. If your sites need more checking than your plan allows, checks pause until the next period and we tell you, so you can change your plan if you want to.
Acceptable use
Use Competese only for monitoring publicly available commercial information about businesses you compete with. Do not add sites you are not permitted to monitor, use the service to collect personal data, try to get round our limits, or use invitations or sign-ups to send messages to people.
Your data
Your business's data stays yours. You can export it at any time and delete the business in Settings. How we handle personal data is in the privacy notice.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Competese running all the time but can't promise it will never be unavailable. If we change these terms or prices in a way that affects you, we'll email the account owner at least 30 days before.
Liability
Competese shows prices and changes read from public websites. We work hard to get them right, but websites change and can be read wrongly, so check anything important before you act on it: we are not responsible for decisions you make using Competese. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit, revenue or data, and our total liability in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in that period. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
